Climate action, rooted in community

Wild Roots Collectives Foundation works with village-level institutions across Assam & Meghalaya to reduce farmers' vulnerability to climate change.

From village institutions to statewide climate action

Wild Roots Collectives Foundation was started by a group of young professionals from North East India, who saw that the institutions best placed to lead climate action already existed at the village level — they simply needed the capability to lead it.

Registered on April 22, 2025 as a Section 8 Company, the Foundation now works directly across Assam and Meghalaya, strengthening Community Institutions rather than working around them.

Our Guiding Principles

The values behind every decision

Five values the Foundation holds itself to, in how it works with communities and how it treats its own people.

Dignity

No act or behaviour that leads to the loss of dignity of an individual or a collective.

Equality

The same rights, and the same treatment, regardless of race, religion or sex.

Equity

Affirmative action towards the marginalized, disadvantaged and alienated.

Excellence

Being extremely good at what the organization sets out to do.

Transparency

Being honest, and not hiding information or feelings.

Why Us

A community-centric, partnership-driven approach

Community-Led

The community sits at the core of every intervention — the Foundation builds around the institutions and priorities that already exist in a village, not around a template.
